What you make: Either a tall cyclinder table Lampshade or a Ribbon Lampshade or both if you choose to spend the day with us and secure a £5 discount.
Age: 18 years+
Suits: Beginner friendly, home decor enthusiasts
What to bring: You will supply your own fabric (see sizes below) so that you can co-ordinate this with your home decor. You can choose to embellish at home with trimmings of your choice or leave as simple and elegant lampshades.
Tall Cylinder Lampshade: You will make a 150mm diameter table lamp that stands 38cm high from the covering of your choice. We recommend using a light to medium weight fabric, either a cotton, poly cotton or a linen/cotton mix. It should be woven, not too stretchy or thick and avoid velvet, wool or easily fraying materials. Your covering needs to be 38.8cm x 51.2cm to fit over the self-adhesive panel supplied. Ideally source 50cmx 60cm particularly if you have a large pattern to feature.
Ribbon Lampshade: You will make a 50cm x 20cm Drum Lampshade using your Ribbon, Lace or Yarn of choice. We recommend using only flame retardant ribbon. Ribbon that is cut on the bias or has some elasticity will work best as this will provide sufficient tension when wrapping to stop you being too heavy-handed when wrapping. The length needed depends upon the width of your Ribbon or yarn but as an example, you would need 10 -12 mtrs of Ribbon that is 25mm wide to wrap this lampshade.
Bring reading glasses if needed.
