Summary:
The Japanese word kokedama (苔玉) translates to ’ moss ball’. It’s made up of the words koke, which means “moss”, and dama, which means “ball”.
A kokedama is a living plant that’s suspended in a ball of soil and wrapped in moss. It’s a centuries-old art form that originated in Japan and is part of the Wabi-Sabi philosophy. Kokedama can be hung or displayed on a plate and make a beautiful table centre piece or look stunning in a bathroom.
During this fun beginner friendly workshop, you will pick your plant, shown how to create the ball with a soil mixture, twine and moss, and how to effectively wrap the ball with twine. We’ll discuss after care advice to prolong the life of your plant.
You’ll go home with a beautiful Kokedama ready to hang or display at home and treasure for years to come.
