Format: This workshop can be done by complete beginners although suitable for experienced crafters alike.

We will create a coil basket with a handle using fabric that you will source and bring along.  All other materials and equipment will be provided. You will need 1 yard x 54” fabric of choice. You can choose to combine fabric colours and patterns if you choose. Choose fabric that is ideally cotton or close weave as it will fray less and possibly rip easier. If you like a frayed look, go for a looser weave. If your fabric doesn’t rip, it will be cut into strips.

You will be shown how to prep your material, how to start your coil base, the best way to create a secure base, create sturdy straight sides and to neatly finish the basket. Then we will create the handle using wire and jute cord.

This is the perfect little basket to start your addictive coil basket hobby! We will go on to list other larger basket workshops and ones using macrame cord so this is the ideal introductory workshop to start as a beginner.

Who would this suit? Anyone who loves crafting or likes up cycling as you can use up old bedding sheets and duvets and old garments.
