It’s made up of the words koke\, which means “moss”\, and dama\, which means “ball”.\n\n\n\n\nA kokedama is a living plant that’s suspended in a ball of soil and wrapped in moss. It’s a centuries-old art form that originated in Japan and is part of the Wabi-Sabi philosophy. Kokedama can be hung or displayed on a plate and make a beautiful table centre piece or look stunning in a bathroom.\n\n\nDuring this fun beginner friendly workshop\, you will be able to pick your preferred plant\, shown how to create the soil blend to create the ball\, how to use the moss and wrap the ball with wire/twine. The fabric you should source should be woven\, not too stretchy or thick and ideally cotton or linen. Avoid velvet\, wool or easily fraying materials. Half a metre of fabric would be ample but the exact size is 97cm x 27.5cm. If you want to keep life simple\, avoid fabric that has a directional pattern to it so a smaller repeat pattern for example.  \nBring reading glasses if needed for close work.  \nWorkshop Summary: During this relaxed and beginner friendly ‘no sew’ workshop you will learn to make a straight sided\, 30cm drum lampshade. You can choose to embellish at home with trimmings of your choice or leave as a simple and elegant shade. The fabric you should source should be woven\, not too stretchy or thick and ideally cotton or linen. Avoid velvet\, wool or easily fraying materials. Half a metre of fabric would be ample but the exact size is 97cm x 27.5cm. If you want to keep life simple\, avoid fabric that has a directional pattern to it so a smaller repeat pattern for example.  \nBring reading glasses if needed for close work.  \nWorkshop Summary: During this relaxed and beginner friendly ‘no sew’ workshop you will learn to make a straight sided\, 30cm drum lampshade. It’s a centuries-old art form that originated in Japan and is part of the Wabi-Sabi philosophy. Kokedama can be hung or displayed on a plate and make a beautiful table centre piece or look stunning in a bathroom.\n\n\n\nDuring this fun beginner friendly workshop\, you will be able to pick your preferred plant\, shown how to create the soil blend to create the ball\, how to use the moss and wrap the ball with wire/twine.
