General information for those attending workshops/creative courses at The Barn, Pye Rd, Heswall, CH60 0DB:
Is this workshop suitable for beginners?
Unless otherwise specified, all our workshops are suitable for those who have never tried the craft before. We welcome all ability levels and our tutors are very experienced and can offer hands on, step by step guidance.
What age is the Workshop appropriate for?
Most workshops welcome mature teens (aged 14+) but if the workshop indicates that power tools, sharp objects or electrical equipment will be used, please liaise with the course tutor and/or The Barn to check in advance prior to booking. There is no upper age limit.
What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the venue?
On street parking is limited to the front and rear. However, the rear car park is often freely available evenings after 5/6pm. Otherwise May Road car park is accessible within a short walk (2 minutes) of The Barn. This is a meter operated system. Public transport links are nearby with the main bus depot being a short walk to The Barn. The venue is easily accessible on foot from Heswall Centre and is located on the same street as The Johnny Pye pub and around the corner from the main PO/Sass hairdressers.
How accessible is the venue?
The workshop space is located on the upper floor and accessed via approximately 10 wooden steps. Access can be gained via the front or rear. There are toilet provisions on the ground floor. We would advise wheelchair users or those with limited mobility to contact The Barn to ensure a car park space is reserved at the rear if possible although there are on street parking options for disabled Blue Badge users at the front of the building.
Where can I contact the organiser with any questions?
Feel free to get in touch via email to email@example.com or to the course tutor direct, if details have been provided above.
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
If you find that you cannot attend, then you are welcome to pass your place on to a friend who may find it useful. Please let The Barn and /or the organiser know if you need to do this. Alternatively, tickets can be transferred to a future workshop up to 14 days before the event itself. Within 14 days, the ticket is not transferable to a future date.
Do I have to bring my e-mail confirmation to the event?
A register will be taken at the workshop so it isn’t necessary to print your ticket. In fact, we’d prefer you didn’t to save the environment!
What is the refund/cancellation policy?
Refunds will be offered in the event of the class being cancelled. In this scenario, we will give as much notice as possible and offer alternative dates if appropriate. This class does have a minimum requirement of ticket sales for it to proceed so there is a possibility of it being cancelled. However, we will aim to contact you with at least 3-5 days notice if this is the case.
If for any reason you find you are unable to attend, then please get in touch and a refund (less any non refundable deposit) can be offered up to 14 days before the workshop . After this period and within 14 days of an event, we are unable to offer a refund. All deposits are non refundable.
What should I wear or bring to the event?
Please make sure you bring something to tie back long hair and some classes may request you wear closed toe shoes particularly if soldering or electrical equipment is involved. Appropriate clothing must be worn, old clothes, non-floaty clothing (tassels, long flow dresses, dangly pendant etc are usually not appropriate depending upon the workshop). Please also bring glasses if you would normally use them for reading particularly if close up work is involved. Kindly note that anyone under the influence of alcohol that might affect yours or others safety may be asked to leave the workshop. Light refreshments & biscuits will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own snacks, particularly if your course runs over lunch or you have special dietary requirements. Please inform the venue should you have a nut allergy 7 days prior to attending the workshop. There is a fridge for storage of food.
Course tutors will provide all necessary tools, equipment & materials unless specified.
