TUTOR: Kirsty Jean, Liverpool Weaving Company
Kirsty will demonstrate, thread by thread, how to set up a frame loom and accomplish different woven techniques. You will then be able to try these patterns out for yourself, weaving with a variety of yarns and materials, from organic cotton, lustrous wools, silks and other textured and fancy yarns. Kirsty has a selection of over 100 yarns to experiment with, so there’s plenty to choose from!
WHAT WILL I MAKE?
Whether you produce a traditional or contemporary design, you will create your own personal wall hanging to take home with you. Kirsty will be on hand to answer questions for all your weaving needs and with over 10 years’ experience in the field, her expertise really brings her workshop to life. This class would suit those new to weaving and looking to learn a new craft skill, covering an array of weaving patterns such as plain weave (tabby), hopsack and monks belt. Learn more about the fabulous craft of weaving whilst progressing at your own pace, this class is designed to be fun, yet engaging.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
All yarns will also be provided, but if you have some at home that you’ve been saving for that special project, please bring them along!
WHERE DOES THE WORKSHOP TAKE PLACE?
We are located at The Barn, 6 Pye Rd, Heswall, CH60 0DB. There is metered parking at May Road car park. The workshop will take old e on the upper floor of The Barn. Access is via a short flight of 10-12 wooden steps. If you have mobility issues, please let us know as there is an alternate access via the rear car park.
ARE DRINKS/FOOD PROVIDED?
Our eco coffee shop, CoffeEco, is located on the ground floor of The Barn. You can secure a half priced hot drink and locally made cake by clicking the ticket link.
HOW MANY STUDENTS WILL ATTEND?
Typical class sizes hold a maximum of 8 students so you will have plenty of individual attention and time to complete your project during this session.

In the event that the workshop cannot proceed due to government enforced restrictions or tutor inability to attend, your workshop will be held over to a future date, converted to vouchers to the same value or a full refund offered. In the event that you are unable to attend, please let us know ASAP. A full refund will be offered if a cancellation is made within 28 days of a workshop. Within this period, 50% of the value of your workshop will refunded or vouchers offered to the full value of the amount paid.
